Phillip and Karas’ IVF Journey With Thérapie Fertility 

Phillip McGlade is the founder and CEO of Thérapie Fertility. From a young age he was interested in the field of fertility, and he couldn’t understand why fertility treatment was so expensive. In 2021, he founded Thérapie Fertility, not knowing that just a few years later, he and his wife Kara would experience secondary infertility and need to use the clinics’ services. Like many young couples, Phillip and Kara thought that having a baby would happen naturally. Unfortunately, they experienced multiple miscarriages before the birth of their first child Madisson. When they began trying again, they experienced more devasting losses. At this point, they turned to Thérapie Fertility for help. In this blog post, we share their one-of-a-kind story of bringing their son Harry into the world, with the help of the team at Thérapie Fertility. 

Meet Kara and Phillip 

“ Hi, my name is Kara McGlade” Kara begins. “And my name is Phillip McGlade. I'm the CEO of The Thérapie Group. And this is Harry,” Phillip continues as he holds his young son. 

 He goes on. “I've always been very curious about fertility. Unfortunately, one in six couples suffer from infertility. And obviously from doing my research, I just couldn't understand why it was so expensive. So that's why we opened up Thérapie Fertility. We wanted to make it more accessible and more affordable for people, so more people could have babies.” 

Fertility Testing 

Before they got married, Kara and Phillip had decided to have some routine fertility testing carried out. Kara recalls, “the doctor at the time just said, you know, your AMH is quite low for your age. So then, we decided to start trying for a baby then. I suppose when we started trying, didn't really think that it would happen straight away, and it did. And then unfortunately we had a miscarriage.” 

She goes on. “Lucky enough, then we had Madison nearly three years ago. And then after Madison, about a year later, we said we'd try for another, kind of have kids close together. And then unfortunately we had another miscarriage. And then it just wasn't really happening.” 

At that point Phillip and Kara decided that they needed some help, and so they decided to chat to the team at Thérapie Fertility. “We were kind of trying every month, so Phillip suggested maybe we should just go chat to the guys, chat to John and see what the options were.” 

The Thérapie Fertility Experience 

Kara smiles as she recalls the experience of going through treatment at the clinic that her family owns and emphasised that they didn’t get any special treatment. One of the core values of the clinic is that each patient is treated equally, and you can’t “pay for better treatment.” She says, “like everyone else, we booked through the portal, so it was brilliant. Everybody's just so friendly, they're so encouraging. Thankfully, in the end, we got there, and we had Harry.” 

 Staying Positive 

When asked what advice they would give to other couples in their situation Kara said “ I suppose for me, I continued with my Pilates and was just trying to keep positive. A lot of people kind of shy away from talking about it. But for me, I was like an open book, I was telling everybody everything!”
