The path to parenthood is challenging for a couple who are struggling to get pregnant. Ever since receiving a diagnosis of endometriosis at the age of 21, Kelly knew that becoming pregnant might be challenging. She and her husband unexpectedly fell pregnant with their first son, but when they began trying again, nothing happened. At this point, they decided to seek help from the experts. After seeing ads on social media, they turned to Thérapie Fertility for help. In this blog post, we share their story of bringing their youngest son, Michael, into the world with the help of the team at Thérapie Fertility.
Meet Kelly and Michael
“ My name is Kelly, and this is Michael.” Kelly begins as her young son plays happily around her. “In 2017, we started trying for a baby and had no luck. I have also endometriosis, so I had been told that I would struggle with fertility.”
Endometriosis occurs when cells like the ones in the lining of the womb are found elsewhere in the body. These cells can grow and change in response to hormones in the menstrual cycle, which can cause inflammation, pain, and scar tissue. It affects 10% of women and those assigned female at birth from puberty to menopause, although the impact may be felt for life.
Kelly continues to tell us about how they conceived their first son, Patrick, who is now 4. After his birth, they began trying for a younger sibling for him but were getting nowhere.
“After Patrick, nothing was happening. And I had seen the ad for Thérapie Fertility on social media.” At that point, she and her husband decided to book a consultation; after all, the appointment would be free, and they had nothing to lose!
After deciding to go ahead with fertility treatment at Thérapie Fertility, Kelly told us how much she loved coming into the clinic for her appointments. “Everyone is so supportive. I loved coming here, and even when I pass here or anything. The staff are fantastic.”
She went on to praise the ease of communication via the online portal. “The portal is fantastic because there's someone on you so quick. Like there's always someone on the other end of the phone. No question is silly or stupid.”
She emphasised the importance of trusting your team. “You meet so many different people, fertility nurses, or even people that work in fertility. They're definitely some form of angel, you know, that are here, helping us.”
When asked what she would say to someone else who is in a similar situation, Kelly says “Just go to just a consultation and find out what you have to do. There's something about Thérapie Fertility! You just come in and you feel like this, this is the place. It’s the most amazing gift to be a parent and we're so lucky to have two little boys.”
