Fertility Testing

Understanding your fertility is one of the most empowering things you can do. Whether you are planning for the future, trying to conceive, or want to know more about your reproductive health, Thérapie Fertility is here to help. We offer a full range of fertility tests designed for women, men, trans and non-binary people, same-sex couples and heterosexual couples, giving you and your doctor a clearer picture of where you are and what your options might be. You do not need to be trying for a baby to have a fertility test. Many people come to us simply wanting to understand their reproductive health better, and that is always a good place to start.

Why get fertility tests?

A fertility test can help you understand your reproductive health and plan ahead. This can be especially valuable because egg numbers naturally decline over time, and the earlier you have information, the more time you may have to consider your options.

Your results can help identify which next steps may be most suitable, whether that is further testing, IUI, fertility treatment, or consideration of fertility preservation.

For example, AMH is an important marker of ovarian reserve, but it is only one part of the picture. It should always be reviewed alongside your age, medical history, and other relevant results. If treatment is recommended, your results may also help guide plans for options such as IVF

We also aim to avoid unnecessary repeat testing. If you have recent results from another clinic or your GP, we will review them where possible before recommending any further tests.

What fertility tests are available for women?

Fertility tests for women are assessments that help us understand different parts of reproductive health. They may include hormone blood tests, such as an AMH test, and a transvaginal ultrasound to assess the uterus and ovaries. In some cases, a HyCoSy may also be recommended to check the uterus and fallopian tubes.

No single test can tell the full story of your fertility. That is why we look at your results alongside your age, medical history, menstrual cycle, previous results, and personal goals. Looking at all of these factors helps our fertility specialists give you personalised advice, rather than basing it on a single result.

Fertility testing can help you understand your ovarian reserve, how your ovaries may respond to treatment, whether further checks may be helpful, and which options may be most suitable for you.

What fertility tests are available for men?

A fertility test can help you understand your reproductive health and plan ahead. Male fertility plays an equal role in conception, and having clear information early gives you more time to consider your options and next steps.

Your results can help identify which next steps may be most suitable, whether that is further testing, a consultation to discuss what your results mean, or consideration of fertility preservation options such as sperm freezing.

Semen analysis is an important starting point for understanding male fertility, but it is only one part of the picture. Results should always be reviewed alongside your medical history, lifestyle factors, and any other relevant information. In some cases, results may also inform recommendations for surgical sperm retrieval.

We also aim to avoid unnecessary repeat testing. If you have recent results from another clinic or your GP, we will review them where possible before recommending any further tests.

The fertility testing process

  • 01

    Consultation and history

Your fertility testing journey starts with a free consultation with one of our fertility nurses. We will talk through your medical history, previous results, fertility goals, and any questions or concerns you may have. The information we gather during this consultation helps us understand which tests are most relevant for you and ensures your assessment is tailored to your individual situation.

    Blood tests and checks

Depending on your situation, your assessment may include blood tests such as AMH and other hormone markers, a semen analysis, or a transvaginal ultrasound scan. These checks help us build a clearer picture of your reproductive health and give your Doctor the information needed to advise on next steps.

    Results and next steps

Once your results are available, our team will share them with you in your patient portal. At your medical consultation, your fertility specialist will explain what they mean and what options may be available to you. These may include further testing, egg freezing, sperm freezing, IUI, IVF, surgical sperm retrieval, or other fertility treatments. You may also decide not to proceed with treatment right now. Either way, you will have the information you need to plan your next steps with confidence.
